John J. Naylor, age 81 of Landisburg, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on December 21, 2023.  Born on February 11, 1942 to the late Charles W. and Cara B. (Hart) Naylor of Port Royal, John is survived by his devoted wife of nine years, Nancy L. (Rice) Shearer Naylor; four children:  Sylvia (Thomas) Close of Ickesburg, Mitchell (Chris) Zinn of Shermans Dale, Holly (Curt) Myers of Millerstown, and Charles (Sheila) Naylor of Marysville; four step children:  Jeffrey (Rena) Shearer of Neelyton, Richard Shearer of East Waterford, Wendy Shearer of Chambersburg, and Matthew (Nicole) Shearer of Chambersburg; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; six step-great grandchildren; and four siblings:  Cora Boyer of Conroe, TX, Doris Solt of Belleville, Belva Fulton of Port Royal, and Thelma (Ty) Haubert of Stuart, FL.  In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his first  beloved wife of 43 years, Geraldine R. (Eyster) Naylor, who died in 2010; and three brothers-in-law:  Walter “Pete” Boyer, Edwin Solt, and Harry Fulton.

John graduated with the Tuscarora Valley High School Class of 1960 and immediately joined the United States Army.  He proudly served from 1960 to 1962 in Europe as both a welder and flame cutter Specialist 5 and earned citations for Marksmanship with both rifle and carbine.  Upon returning to civilian life, John attended York Borg Warner Technical School in Pittsburgh.  After earning his credentials, he worked as an HVAC Technician for York International/Johnson Controls for 39 years, from which he retired in 2002.  He was a member of Local 520 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union.

John was skilled, hard-working, detail-oriented, and above all, selfless.  Always willing to help a neighbor, he was happy to offer his welding or mechanical services to anyone in need. He was a member of East Waterford Presbyterian Church where he gladly served in various capacities, from church maintenance to fellowship clean up.

In addition to being a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, John loved spending time in his workshop. He was a craftsman who created many treasured heirlooms for family and friends.  He was also an avid sportsman and enjoyed sharing his love of hunting with the next generations.

The memorial services for John will be held in the calming chapel of Nickel Lochstampfor Family Funeral Home on Thursday, December 28.  The Gathering of Friends will be held from 10 to 11  AM, with the memorial service following immediately at 11 AM, with Brother Richard Horning officiating.  The inurnment will follow the memorial service at St. Peters Cemetery.  Memorial donations may be made in John’s name online to *Wounded Warrior Project* (https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org) and/or *Homeland Hospice* (https://www.homelandathome.org/donate/).

John was a special man. Full of laughter, joy and good common sense! He was an excellent friend and a joy to be around. We are blessed that our paths crossed. He always had a smile and a huge hug each time we met with him and Nancy. He will be missed.❤️❤️
