Wanda R. (Shatto) Blumenschein, age 72 of Loysville, left her Earthly home and ascended into the arms of Jesus on November 2, 2024. All who knew Wanda will smile and agree that her nickname is accurate -- Wonderful Wanda. Born in Harrisburg on November 3, 1951, to the late Grant S. and Mary Ellen (Hoon) Shatto, Wanda is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years, Gary A. Blumenschein, three children: Jennifer L. Dum (Harold), Jason A. Blumenschein (Hallie) and Jared G. Blumenschein (Lindsey); three grandchildren: Brent A. Blumenschein (Meghan), Lincoln G. and Greyson F.—all living in Perry County; five siblings: Mary E. Faulkner of Ickesburg, Grant S. Shatto II (Lorraine) of Auburn, CA, Paul Shatto (Brucetta) and Brian J. Shatto (Dottie) both of Shermans Dale, and Joanne Poland (Russell) of Bucyrus, OH; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Wanda is preceded in death by her brother, Philip T. Shatto. Tucker, Wanda’s canine companion and therapy dog, will deeply miss her.
Wanda graduated with the 1969 Class of West Perry High School and attended HACC for several semesters following a nursing degree. Wanda had a servant’s heart – She loved to help others. Wanda worked as the Office Manager and Co-Owner of G.A Blumenschein & Sons Plumbing and Heating. She was also a Court-Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for children in Cumberland County. She was a member of New Life Assembly of God in Landisburg, where she taught Missionettes (young ladies) and volunteered for Vacation Bible School. She was a passionate sponsor of the children of World Vision. In addition to raising a family and working right along with Gary, Wanda also worked for Kinney Shoe, Country Meadows, Don Jacobs Insurance Agency, and the Bank of Landisburg.
Wonderful Wanda loved life! Her infectious laugh could fill the room. She loved her grandchildren unconditionally. Her children stated that they had purchased too many hummingbird feeders to even count, so she could always watch them. She loved sunflowers and rainbows and reading a good book.
