Tyler Shanafelter Obituary

Tyler David Shanafelter died unexpectedly on October 10, 2020, at the age of 18.  Known to some of his friends by the nicknames “Ty” or “T-Shan”, Tyler was born in Harrisburg on February 25, 2002 to Anthony Shanafelter of Shermans Dale and Laura {Barker) Shanafelter of Shippensburg.  In addition to his parents, Tyler is survived by two sisters:  Courtney Druck of Mechanicsburg and Alexandria Druck of York, Grandmother Liz Shanafelter of Shermans Dale, Great-Grandmother Ann (Ron) Rice of Elliottsburg, and two uncles:  Gary Barker of New Cumberland and Scott Barker of York.  Tyler was loved and his beautiful smile will be missed by lots of aunts, uncles and cousins.  Lucy, Mya, and Oscar were his special canine companions.  Rachel Crowder, Tyler’s girlfriend, will also miss him.

Tyler graduated from Shippensburg High School.  He was a young man of many interests.  He began his school years playing both football and basketball.  He also enjoying the great outdoors:  fishing, hunting, four-wheeling, and dirt biking.  He loved to shop for clothes and shoes, and had quite an eye for fashion.  Naturally, he relaxed by listening to music and watching YouTube videos, while accepting the challenge to create and fill an Altoids box with a survival kit.  Tyler had just begun a job at MasterBrand Cabinets as a stacker, where he prepared the cabinets for shipping.  He was a huge Dallas Cowboy fan.

Memorial donations in Tyler Shanafelter’s name can be made to any drug addiction awareness program.

Tyler’s viewing will be held in two blocks of time to safely ensure the attending guests’ social distancing:  an afternoon block from2 to 4 PM, and an evening block from 5 to 7 PM in the newly renovated chapel of Nickel Lochstampfor Family Funeral Home, Inc. (3626 Shermans Valley Road) in Loysville on Friday, October 16.  Immediately following the conclusion of the evening viewing block will be Tyler’s Funeral Service, with Rev. William Pipp officiating.  The family requests that guests consider attending the afternoon block viewing if they are unable to attend the funeral service.
