April 10, 1958 ~ February 5, 2024 (age 65) 65 Years Old

Thomas Reeves, Jr. Obituary

Thomas Earl Reeves, Jr. 65 unexpectedly entered eternal rest Monday, February 5, 2024 at his home in Loysville.  He was born April 10, 1958 in Jacksonville, FL to the late Thomas and Lola (Ponce) Reeves, Sr.

He spent his younger years on the beaches around Jacksonville and immersing himself in his love of music and art.  He met Helen and had two children, Thomas and Christina.  After producing several CDs, he decided to travel, see the country, share his music, and sell them at various public events.  He loaded up his van and set off for an adventure -- enjoying the beauty of camping at state parks and the freedom to travel whenever, wherever, at will.  At one such event, he met his wife Jenny (Murtoff) Reeves, or "Miss Jenny", as he oftern called her (in his slight southern drawl), and together their next adventure began.  They were married in 2001 in Loysville, lost their way in this circus of life, but found their path together again and remaried in 2021 in Landisburg.  He attended various churches in and around Perry County, but his Christian beliefs he held dear and steadfast.  He took odd jobs throughout his life, most recently helping an Amish roofing crew, but his love for music was perpetual.  He spent many hours in his recording studio amoung his friends -- instruments of all shapes, sizes, and sounds, equipment, and lyrics.  His talent enabled him to use them all beautifully.

He lived life on his terms and convictions, and undoubtedly marched confidently to his own beat.  HIs instruments and equipment will be passed on to his step-grandchildren who are talented musicians as well, and so the beat goes on.

He is survived by his wife Jenny; children Thomas and Christina and step-daughter Carrie Oshman and her husband Keith of Newport; granddaughter Scarlet and step-grandchildren Madeline, Hayden, Benjamin and Kellen Shepley all of Newport; stepmother MIllie Reeves of Jacksonville, FL; sister Heide Bondank of Atlantic Beach, FL; and brother Mark of MI.  Thomas is predeceased by his father, mother, sister Sigrid Reeves and brother Eric Reeves, all of FL.

There will be no formal funeral services at this time, however, the family will hold a private celebration of life gathering at a later date.  He will be cremated and his ashes shared with the Earth so his spirit may be felt near his home in the hills of Western Perry County.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to either The Bank of Landisburg at 242 E. Main Street, Blain, PA  17006 to help the family with his final expenses, or to the Newport Band Boosters, 500 Caroline Street, Newport, PA 17074 to support young musicians.
