Stanley Duane Richard, known to most as S. Duane Richard, 62 of Landisburg, passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2025. He was born in Harrisburg on June 16, 1962, to Stanley Dayton and Gloria Jean (Albright) Richard of Landisburg. In addition to his parents, Duane is survived by his two brothers: Mark Richard (Ronda) of Landisburg and Eric Richard (Mitzi) of New Bloomfield; two nephews: Cody and Wyatt Richard; three nieces: Madison Weiland, Darby Richard, and Angel Leggore; two great nieces: Ruby and Adaline; and his great nephew: Rhett.
In his young years, Duane participated in the Cub Scouts, midget baseball in Landisburg, and won awards with Future Farmers of America. He was a Star Chapter Farmer in 1978 and received his Keystone FFA degree in 1980. Duane attended and graduated with the 1980 Class of West Perry High School and followed his lifelong passion of dairy farming. At a young age Duane became interested in Holstein dairy cows and heifers. His grandfather, Alfred Albright, was a cattle dealer and dairy farmer. Duane and his cousin, Danny Albright, would go with Grandpa to the cattle sales and auctions. He received many ribbons, awards, and trophies for showing his heifers at both Perry and Juniata County Fairs. Duane was a farmer and Holstein cattle dealer. He enjoyed archery and hunting deer and pheasant.
He was a member of Mount Zion Free Lutheran Church in Landisburg. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #177 of Newport and a social member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #7463 of New Bloomfield, where he was known by many as “Farmer”. He was also a member of Blain Sportsmen’s Club.
Funeral services for Duane will be held on Thursday, February 27 at Mount Zion Free Lutheran Church in Landisburg. The funeral service will be at 11 AM, with the closed-casket visitation from 10 to 11. Pastor Brian Stambaugh will be officiating. Interment will follow the funeral service in Mount Zion Free Lutheran Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Landisburg Emergency Medical Services, 301 Faculty Avenue, Landisburg, PA 17040.
