Stanley J Behot, age 77 of New Bloomfield left this Earth on August 22, 2023 to join his Heavenly Father after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. Stanley was also known by his grandchildren as “Dziadek”, reflecting his proud Polish heritage translated as “Grandpa”. Stanley was born on June 17, 1946 in Burlington, NJ to the late Stanley C. and Stephony (Traks) Behot. He is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Diane L (Farrow) Behot; his “miracle” daughter, Laura (Chris) Laughman of New Bloomfield; two grandchildren: Leah and Christian; brother-in-law, Danny (Nancy) Farrow; and nephews: Aaron and Justin. In addition to his parents, Stanley is preceded in death by his sister.
Stanley graduated from Burlington City High School with the Class of 1964. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a Boilermaker from 1964 to 1968, where he earned the Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device, Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, and the National Defense Service Medal. Upon completion of his service stint, Stanley treated himself to a vacation cruise, where he met his beautiful wife. Upon return to civilian life, Stanley became a truck driver and drove for the next 33 years. He retired from PSE&G in 2003.
Stanley was a storyteller. This loving, caring, giving, selfless man loved deep sea fishing, John Wayne, pierogies, meatloaf, and prime rib. He enjoyed visiting with his family and friends. He was a member of the New Bloomfield VFW Post #7463. Stanley was also fascinated by the weather. His family frequently referred to him as “their weatherman” since he was always up to date with current weather conditions.
