Ruth (Hockersmith) Mowery, age 94, formerly of Landisburg, entered into eternal rest on October 18, 2021. Born on July 31, 1927 in Shippensburg, she was the last surviving child of the late J. Perry and Grace (Watson) Hockersmith. Ruth is survived by her two daughters: Christine Mowery of Mechanicsburg and Dolores (Donald) Boggs of Carlisle and two grandchildren: Jessica Boggs of Centreville, VA and Gregory (Ashleigh) Boggs of Rock Hill, SC. In addition to her parents and siblings, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Chester A Mowery on January 14, 2002. Ruth was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She always put family first and was generous, giving and loving.
In addition to raising a family and running a household, Ruth worked as a teller at the Bank of Landisburg. After retiring she and Chester decided to move to Cumberland Crossings. She relocated to Chapel Pointe in July 2021. She was a member of Tressler Memorial Lutheran Church in Loysville, where she sang in the choir and actively worked with the Ladies Aid.

Family and friends are invited to attend graveside services for Ruth which will be held at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, located in Annville, PA on Monday, November 8, 2021 at 11 AM.
Memorial donations may be made in Ruth’s name to Hospice of Central PA (HCP), Development Department, 1320 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
