Ruth E. (Foose) Buck, age 101 of Enola, left her Earthly home and was embraced by Jesus on January 29, 2025. She died peacefully at her daughter’s home surrounded by her loving family. Ruth was born at home on May 26, 1923 to the late Harry D. and Stella M. (Kennedy) Foose of Green Park and is survived by three children: Jack L. Buck of California, Lewis A. Buck (Deb) of Dover, and Cheryl A. Keller ( Bob Sr.) of Linglestown; a daughter in law, Charlene Buck of Hummelstown; four grandchildren: Jason Buck of Hummelstown, Ryan Buck of Harrisburg, Melissa Fogelsanger (Brent) of Etters, and Derek Miller of Enola; four great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her late parents, Ruth is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Marvin O. Buck; her son, Terry M. Buck; and all her siblings: William Foose of Quincy, IL, Frances Georgeff of Granite City, IL, Robert Foose of Enola, and Martha Lyons of Landisburg.
In addition to running a household and raising a family, Ruth walked the town of Enola selling Avon products from her cart. She was an Avon Sales Representative for 38 years. She was a member of the Avon President’s Club, indicating that she was a top seller, and won many other awards for her Avon accomplishments. She never learned to drive a car, so she walked to meet all of her customers. She graduated from high school in Perry County – Class of 1941 and worked as a nurse’s aide at Polyclinic Hospital prior to her marriage. She was a member of the former St. Matthew United Church of Christ in Enola.
An Open House style of visitation will be held in the calming chapel of Nickel Lochstampfor Family Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 4 from 12 noon to 2 PM. The visitation will be a time to pay condolences to the family and reminisce about Ruth. The format is more casual and fluid than a standard visitation and/or funeral service. Burial will follow the Open House and interment will be at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Landisburg.
