Richard Lyons Obituary

LOYSVILLE - Richard William "Dick" Lyons, 73, of Loysville went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 5, 2016 in the Select Specialty Hospital, Camp Hill.
      Dick was born October 2, 1942 in Andersonburg to the late Donald M. and Janet I. (Bolze) Lyons. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Lois M. Barclay and a grandson Terek Liebel.
      He was a Vietnam Air Force Veteran and received the Peace Medal.
      He was a retired Regional Administrative Manager at Westinghouse Electric Supply Company in Lemoyne after 35 years. Prior to that he worked at Paul E. Shover & Sons and Herschel. He currently was driving for Dum's Bus Service.
      He was a member and current and past Consistory Member at the Zion United Church of Christ, Blain; Blain Fire Company and Blain Ambulance Company.
      He was a former President and Vice-President for the West Perry School Board; a Landisburg Youth Baseball Coach; Coach and Chairman of the board for West Perry Midget Football from 1975 to 1976 and player/coach for the church softball league.
      Dick enjoyed both playing and watching all sports. He was dedicated to his son Duff's Participation and later watched his grandsons games and granddaughter's dance recitals. Dick was also an avid golfer and enjoyed his weekly outings with his friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
      He is survived by his wife Myrna V. (Neidigh) Lyons, a son, Duane A. "Duff" Lyons of Landisburg, four step children, Cindy Howell and her husband Ron of Mechanicsburg, Trudy Liebel and her husband John of Loysville, Wendy Milligan of Elliottburg, Brent Milligan and his wife Danielle of Loysville, a brother, Donald E. Lyons (Pauline) and his children Steve and John, a brother-in-law, James W. Barclay and his daughter Karen, 12 grandchildren, Dustin, Shjon, and Jesse Lyons, Shane, Chad and Bree Howell, Trevin and Tregg Liebel, Dylan Naugle, Brendan, Brody and Brock Milligan, many nieces, nephews and friends.
      A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 10, 2016 in the Zion United Church of Christ, 24 West Main Street, Blain, Pa. 17006 with the Rev. Michael Boehm and Paul Gehris officiating. Viewing will be from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM on Friday, September 9, 2016 in the Nickel Funeral Home, 3626 Shermans Valley Road, Loysville, Pa. 17047 and 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM Saturday in the church. Burial with military honors by the Perry County Honor Guard will be in the Blain Cemetery at 12:15 PM following the service.
      Flowers are welcome and memorial contributions may be made to the Zion United Church of Christ, 24 West Main Street, Blain, Pa. 17006.
