Phyllis Barbara Werndle, age 84 of Loysville, passed from this Earth to join her Heavenly Father on February 19, 2026. Born on October 4, 1941 in Philadelphia to the late John Werndle and Evelyn G. (Gray) Boerner, Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Angela Werndle (Chris) of Loysville; two grandsons: Jerry Lee Straining (Felicia) of State College and William Straining of Loysville; two great grandchildren: Blair and Harrison; and a sister in law, Jackie Boerner of Blain. In addition to her parents, Phyllis is preceded in death by her grandson, Joshua Straining, who died in 2019 and her brother, William Boerner, who died in 2010.
Phyllis was also known by those who loved her, as P.B.W. She graduated with the 1959 Class of Blain Union and was a member of Manasa Community Church. She maintained perfect attendance throughout her entire public-school experience of Grades 1 through 12. Throughout her career, Phyllis worked for Peb dress factory of Thompsontown (originally of Ickesburg), Premier at Perry Village of New Bloomfield, and Home Health. She retired from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board as a Licensing Officer in 1992, after 30+ years of service. She was a member of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) – a state employee union, and Blain Ambulance.
Phyllis had a great love of animals – especially her cat Butterball. She enjoyed feeding and watching the birds come to the bird feeder. She excelled at solving crossword puzzles, and actively watched Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, as well as enjoying the Classic Westerns. Naturally, her favorite music was Classic Country, including artists like Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton, and Conway Twitty.
