NEW BLOOMFIELD - Paul D. Beal, 85, formerly of Friedens and New Bloomfield, died Friday, June 27, 2014 in New Bloomfield. He was born June 25, 1929 in Berlin, PA to the late John & Edna "Grace"(Dively) Beal. He was an art teacher in the Somerset School District for many years and an artist involved with the American Guild of Papercutters and the Laurel Arts in Somerset County.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Claire A. (Weigle) Beal in 2012. Surviving are a daughter, Amy and her husband, Peter Bomen, of Harrisburg; a son, Ian and his wife, Brenda, of Shermans Dale and two grandchildren, Garrett P. Beal and Sarah C. Beal, both of Shermans Dale.
In addition, he is survived by a brother, Clifford Beal, of Sarasota, FL; two sisters, Helen Bruck of Volant, PA and Mary Slaybeck of Tuscon, AZ and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by brothers Glen Beal, Robert Beal and Louis Gartner and a sister, Carmen Kern.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Laurel Arts, PO Box 414, 214 S. Harrison Avenue, Somerset, PA 15501.
