Patricia Ann (Shope) Swab

Patricia (Shope) Swab, fondly called “Nanny” by many people, age 90 of Elliottsburg, left her Earthly home and joined her Heavenly Father on March 9, 2022.  Born on September 9, 1931 in Carlisle, Patricia was adopted by the late Chester and Elsie (Bryner) Shope.  She is survived by her three children:  Charles (Janelle) Swab of Temple, Gregory (Jennifer) Swab of Hummelstown and Lori (Robert) Wolford of Elliottsburg; five grandchildren:  Lindsay (Nathan) Ewing, Ashley (Kyle) Cassel, Robert (Breanne) Wolford, Lauren (Austin) Pierce and Lexie (Max) Massen; and nine great grandchildren:  Austin, Nash, Nolan, Branning, Leo, Noah, Quinn, Finn and Omri.  In addition to her parents, Patricia was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 41 years, Charles F. Swab who died in 1992 and her granddaughter, Jessica Swab.  Patricia was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.  She always put family first and was generous, giving and loving.

In addition to raising a family and running a household, Patricia worked in the West Perry High School Cafeteria.  She retired in 1993 after 26 years of service.  Patricia belonged to Lady Landis 303 and was an active member at Messiah Lutheran Church in Elliottsburg.  Patricia lived across the street from the high school, which was very conveniently located for her “kids” to come with their friends to get a bite to eat before the Friday night football games.  She loved watching sports, especially the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles, Steph Curry and Duke basketball.

The memorial service for Patricia will be held on Saturday, March 19 at the Messiah Lutheran Church, 70 Limestone Ridge Road, Elliottsburg, PA  17024.  The Gathering of Friends and Family will be from 12 noon to 2 PM.  The Celebration of Life will be held at 2 PM, officiated by both Pastors Eric Petty and Miriam Nicholson.  Memorial donations may be made in Patricia’s name to Messiah Lutheran Church, 70 Limestone Ridge Road, Elliottsburg, PA  17024.
