Michael J Moose, age 75, of Carlisle joined his Heavenly Father on May 2, 2021. Mike was born in East Donegal Township on November 13, 1945 to the late Leo and Blanche (Stoner) Moose. He is survived by his devoted wife, Linda (Myers) Grimes Moose of Carlisle; seven children: Jeffrey (Fran) Gillen of Binghamton, NY, Michelle Gillen of Pittsburgh, Craig Moose of Marysville, Keith (Sue) Grimes of Dover, PA, Kevin Grimes of Camp Hill, Anthony (Stacey) Grimes of Carlisle, and Theresa (Ric) LeBlanc of Carlisle; five siblings: Dale (Darlene) Moose of Purcell, MO, Victor (Linda) Moose of Seattle, WA, Keith (Beverly) Moose of Landisburg, Joyce Wilt of Blain, and Linda Guise of Gardners; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mike is preceded in death by two brothers: Roger and Ralph Moose.
Mike proudly served his country as a Tank Mechanic in the Army and earned Expert and Sharpshooter recognitions with weapons. He also received the Gen. Thomas J Stewart Medal, which is awarded to members of the PA National Guard for superb attendance and excellent performance of duties over five consecutive years. Following his military service, Mike worked for Bethlehem Steel as a furnace operator, from which he retired after 35 ½ years.
It should come as no surprise that Mike loved cars. He was a member of the Blue Moon Cruisers car club. He spent some wonderful weekends showing off his 1965 Fastback Mustang and enjoying the friendships of other car enthusiasts. Mike is remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and his huge giving heart. Linda has always been the love of his life, and he was happiest when spending time with her. Their favorite pastime was browsing through flea markets. He focused on others when he felt terrible – that’s how he handled the “storms” in his own life – by uplifting and encouraging those around him.
Funeral services for Mike will be held in the newly renovated chapel of Nickel Lochstampfor Family Funeral Home of Loysville on Thursday, May 6. The visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 AM, followed immediately by the funeral service, officiated by Pastor David Zimmerman. Interment will follow in Landisburg Cemetery. Masks are requested inside the building for the safety and respect of others.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Nickel-Lochstampfor Family Funeral Home, Inc. in Loysville.
