Megan L. Nickey of Carlisle, fondly known to her family as “Megs”, gained her angel wings on January 1, 2022, at the age of 28. Known by many physicians as a “miracle child”, Megan bravely faced each day of her challenging life with joy. Born on October 14, 1993 to Thomas and Rebecca (Thompson) Hoon of Shermans Dale, Megan is survived by her fiancée, Cory Bair; two brothers: Michael (Amber) Nickey and Hoyt Hoon, both of Shermans Dale; her maternal grandmother, Sandy Thompson of Newville, her maternal grandfather, David (Dot) Thompson of Newville, and her niece and nephew, Arianna and Zander. Megan was preceded in death by her daughter, Paislee Willow Bair, who died in 2013.
In her young years, Megan was a member of the New Bloomfield Junior Fire Fighters. She also was a Make-A-Wish child. She loved all things Disney – bright colors, cheerful characters, excitement of Disney World, and can’t-get-it-out-of-your-head music. She had a big heart for anyone with disabilities and was passionate about “paying it forward”. She enjoyed country music and stopping at small little ice cream stands for a little dessert (no matter what time of day). Megan was an outspoken strong-willed lady who will be truly and deeply missed by all who knew her. She was happiest being around family and friends and most importantly, her niece and nephew, who were her pride and joy.
Funeral services are being held on Friday, January 7 in the newly renovated chapel of Nickel Lochstampfor Family Funeral Home, located at 3626 Shermans Valley Road, Loysville, PA 17047.
