Martha Loy Obituary

Martha Jean (Milligan) Loy, 96 of Loysville, left her Earthly home and was embraced in the arms of Jesus on March 21, 2025.  Known by her family by many names:  “Mom”, “Aunt Martha”, “Grandma”, and “GG”, Martha was born at home on October 8, 1928 to the late Van B. and Jean E. (Ernest) Milligan of Loysville.  She is survived by two children:  James E. Loy (Sue) of Loysville and Pat R. Barnes (George) of Millerstown; eight grandchildren:  Shellie Frederick (Todd) of Millerstown; Josh Loy (Liza) of Loysville, Charles Barnes of Millerstown, Brian Loy (Elisabeth) of Fleetwood, Becky Reisinger (Den) of Loysville, Laurie Kriebel (Rick) of Millerstown, Emily Bowen-Ashwin (Mike) of Pitman, NJ, and Angie Reisinger (Rob) of Loysville; seventeen great grandchildren:  Gretchen Frederick, Alexsa Frederick, Zachary Loy, Julie Loy, Gregory Loy, George Barnes, Travis Loy, Wylie Loy, Clayton Reisinger, Andrea Reisinger, Kaden Kriebel, Conner Kriebel, Jake Bowen-Ashwin, Riley Bowen-Ashwin, Sidney Reisinger, Brody Reisinger, and Emily Reisinger; and her daughter-in-law, Linda Loy of Loysville.  In addition to her parents, Martha is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, Dean E. Loy, who died in 1999; son, Robert D. Loy, who died in 2007; great granddaughter, Maggie Barnes, who died in 2014; and all eleven of her siblings:  John D. Milligan, A. Janette Albright, Minnie R. Shull, Marietta Shields, Edna L. Clark, Esther L. Smith, Henry “Ernie” E. Milligan, Florence “Tootie” M. Emlet, Robert V. Milligan (survived by his wife, Phyllis), Richard “Dick” E. Milligan (survived by his wife, Kay), and Edwin “Ted” C. Milligan (survived by his wife, Edna).  Martha was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.  She always put family first and was generous, giving and loving.

Martha graduated from Blain Vocation School.  In addition to raising a family and running a household, Martha worked as a machinist, and retired from AMP, Inc.  Her lifelong career also included working  at CH Masland and Carlisle Tire and Rubber.  She was also an active member of Centre Presbyterian Church, where she volunteered with the Women’s Association.  In her rare free time, Martha also participated with the Ladies Auxiliary of the Blain Fire Department.

Martha was a great baker.  She passionately and lovingly baked pies and homemade bread.  Everyone was so excited when she made her famous black walnut cake.  She also enjoyed following her grandkids and great grandkids sports adventures – wins AND loses.  After God, family was Martha’s highest priority.  As the last sibling to survive of the twelve children, Martha proudly accepted her nieces and nephews honorary title of “Mother” as they lost their own biological mothers.  Martha will be deeply and dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Funeral services for Martha will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Centre Presbyterian Church of Loysville.  The viewing will be held from 10 to 11 AM, followed immediately by the funeral service at 11 AM, with Pastor Lon Kuehn officiating.  Interment will follow the funeral service in the adjoining church cemetery.  The family requests memorial donations be made to Centre Presbyterian Church, 3912 Freeman Hollow Road, Loysville, PA  17047.
