Marilou A. (Reeser) Oyler, 87, of Carlisle, joined her Heavenly Father on October 11, 2025. Born in Mechanicsburg to the late Samuel C. and Pearl Irene (Walters) Reeser, Sr., Marilou was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She is survived by two daughters: Kellie Oyler Johnson (Jeffrey) of Marysville and Christie M. Taylor (Rex) of Parrish, FL; three grandchildren: Ricky L. Oyler, Jr. (Heather) of Dillsburg, Ezra Oyler and Lilliana Oyler – both of Middletown; four grandchildren: Nolan, Peyton, Kylie, and Adelynn; her brother, Samuel C. Reeser, Jr. (Carol) of Mechanicsburg; and two daughters-in-law: Diane Oyler of Mechanicsburg and Holly Oyler of Middletown. In addition to her parents, Marilou is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Ned J. Oyler, who died in 2015; and two sons: Ricky L. Oyler and Scott A. Oyler.
In addition to raising a family and managing a loving household, Marilou worked as a secretary for the Comptroller of Pennsylvania, Iceland Fish Packing, and Sound of Shears by Kellie in Shiremanstown, retiring in 1997 after 8 years of service. She also drove a school bus for Kauffman Bus Service.
Marilou graduated with the 1957 Class of Cumberland Valley High School. She was a vivacious and popular young lady! The quote describing her in the yearbook read, “A popular girl with a winning smile.” She was the head majorette, active in FBLA, received certification from the Trustworthy American general office workers, and was the fashion editor for the C.V. Eye school newspaper.
She was never at a loss for words and loved nothing more than sharing a laugh, a story, or a piece of advice with anyone willing to listen. She found joy in the unconditional love of her many pets and in the shared experience of family road trips, which involved many stops along the way. Her unwavering love and kindness defined her, and we will remember her as an inspiration and a true warrior in embracing the gift of life. Our mother definitely marched to the beat of her own drum, and we will miss her to the moon and back.
Our family will always be grateful for the exceptional care and concern our mother received from her many caretakers at Evertrue Cumberland Crossings, US Renal Care, and UPMC Carlisle, Harrisburg and West Shore.
Marilou’s services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements entrusted to Nickel-Lochstampfor Family Funeral Home, Inc. in Loysville, PA.
