Lorraine V (Bricker) Moatz

Lorraine Viola (Bricker) Moatz went home to be with the Lord and family on January 22, 2022.  Born December 15, 1930 to the late Lawrence and Florence (Martin) Bricker of Fayetteville, she is survived by her eight children:  Melvina Harmon of Hagerstown, MD, Pamela Lawson of Roanoke, VA, Gregory (Donna) Moatz of Chambersburg, Darlene (Bud) Kipe of Hagerstown, MD, Gordon Moatz, Sr. of Chambersburg, Stephen (Tammy) Moatz of Waynesboro, Krista Haugh of Hagerstown, MD, and Karla (Larry) Rowe of Hagerstown, MD; 14 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren, with 2 more soon-to-arrive.  In addition to her parents, Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Melvin Moatz, who died in 2000, her sisters:  Janet Cromwell and Rhoda Benshoff; and two sons-in-law:  Allen Harmon and Jonathan Lawson.  Lorraine was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who loved and supported her family with heartfelt compassion.

In addition to raising a family and running a household, Lorraine worked at Rexall Drug Store in Blue Ridge Summit and Drug Fair in Waynesboro for 17 years.  She also managed P&P Brothers at Fort Ritchie, from which she retired in 1993.  Lorraine was a current and faithful member of the Virginia Avenue Church of God in Hagerstown, MD for the last 20 years.  She was a member of God’s Wonderful People Sunday School Class, W.O.W. - , Prayer Shawl - , and Card-Ministries.  She also volunteered in the church office.  In her rare and precious spare time, Lorraine enjoyed working crossword puzzles, knitting, crafts, playing her organ, and helping others.

The viewing and funeral service for Lorraine will be held on Monday, January 31 at Virginia Avenue Church of God, 17306 Virginia Avenue, Hagerstown, MD  21740.  The visitation will be held from 11 AM to 12 noon.  The funeral service will begin at 12 noon and will be officiated by Bishop A. Paul Harne.  Interment will follow the funeral service at Rest Haven Cemetery in Hagerstown.  Memorial donations may be made in Lorraine’s name to Virginia Avenue Church of God, 17306 Virginia Avenue, Hagerstown, MD  21740.
