Loretta (Straub) Mullen, 80 of Mechanisburg, gained her angel’s wings on July 18, 2023. Born in Harrisburg on September 2, 1942 to the late Miles E and Susie (Reisch) Straub, she is survived by four children: Terry E (Patricia) Mullen of Duncannon, Tim M (Tracy) Mullen of Campbelltown, Patrick D Mullen of Hershey, and Sharon (Jay) Green of Lykens; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and her brother, Dale Straub of Millersburg. In addition to her parents, Loretta is preceded in death by her devoted husband of 46 years, Amos F Mullen, who died in 2010, and her son, Luther Scott Mullen, who died in 2022.
In addition to raising a family and running a household, Loretta worked at Piezo Crystal-Loysville in her early years, and then retired from Messiah Village as a Resident Assistant in the Alzheimer/Memory Unit. Described as a selfless, caring, and giving woman, Loretta was an active member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Elliottsburg. This very private and independent woman could occasionally be feisty, and was famous for looking at her children, shaking her index finger adamantly, and proclaiming, “Let me tell YOU something right now!”
The funeral services for Loretta will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to Messiah Lutheran Church, 70 Limestone Ridge Road, Elliottsburg, PA 17024.
Arrangements entrusted to Nickel Lochstampfor Family Funeral Home, Inc., located in Loysville, PA.
