Linda (Bowen) Sweigart, age 78 of Newville, gained her angel’s wings on December 23, 2021. Known by her family as “Me Maw”, she was born in Waldorf, MD on May 21, 1943 to the late Charles and Nancy (Jeffries) Bowen. Linda is survived by her devoted husband of 28 years, William Sweigart; four children: Harry Allen Baughman of Shamokin, Nanette Eilene Baughman of Blain, Jess Lee Baughman of Loysville, and Douglas Ray Baughman of Blain; three stepchildren: Wanda Hansel, Randy Sweigart and Allen Sweigart, all of Mechanicsburg; 18 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and three siblings: William Houck, Peg Cheatham, and Wilma, her “sister”. In addition to her parents, Linda is preceded in death by her brother, Herbert Houck, and two canine companions: Foxy and Maxwell. Gizmo, the little boy bird and love of her life, will miss Linda deeply. Linda was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She always put family first and was generous, giving and loving.
In addition to raising a family and running a household, Linda founded and ran Me Maw’s Lunch Wagon. She also worked as a personal care assistant in Chapel Pointe at Carlisle, Green Ridge Village, Thornwald Home, Forest Park Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, and Sarah Todd Memorial Home. Her adult career also included jobs with Reeves-Hoffman in Carlisle and Ross Distribution Center. In her rare free time, Linda enjoyed flower gardening, wood working, and family get togethers.
Memorial services will be announced later at the convenience of the family.
