Linda D. (Dum) Rock, 81 of Landisburg, gained her angel’s wings on January 16, 2026. Born in Carlisle on April 5, 1944, to the late Glenn E. and Hulda L. (Rice) Dum, Linda is survived by her daughter in law, Debra Rock of Landisburg; four grandchildren: Amber Adair (Darren) of Landisburg, Amanda Rock of Coalport, Chad Martin (Augustine) of Loysville, and J.P. Martin; and five great grandchildren: Zain, Aiden, Gaige, Ronnie, and Melissa. In addition to her parents, Linda is preceded in death by her son, Brian A. Rock, who died in 2013; her great grandson, Robert Beward; and sister, Lucille M. Rice, who died in 2021.
Linda attended and graduated from GreenPark Union High School. Linda’s work history is quite varied. She began her career at CH Masland & Son in Carlisle, where she worked with her sister for six years prior to her marriage. She also worked at Perry Health Center, and the National Gypsy Moth Labs at Waggoners Gap Sanctuary – a job she raved about many years later. She retired after 15 years of service as a custodian for West Perry School District. She was an active member of Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church in Elliottsburg.
Linda actively participated in Perry County 4-H Club, Lady Landis Rebekah Lodge #303 in New Bloomfield, which is an auxiliary organization of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, and was a Dairy Club Leader for several years. Linda’s “claim to fame” was her milking stool, which Pennsylvania Governor 1959-1963, David Lawrence, sat on for a photo opportunity in 1960 at the Farm Show – and fell off. She was later presented an award from the Guernsey Association for the Farm Show stool incident.
Linda’s memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at 11 AM at Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Pastor Eric Petty officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church, 70 Limestone Ridge Road, Elliottsburg, PA 17024 OR Perry-Juniata County Animal Rescue, 379 Sugar Run Road, Millerstown, PA 17062.
Arrangements entrusted to Nickel Lochstampfor Family Funeral Home, Inc., located in Loysville, PA.
