Linda Jean (Curren) Carlin, of New Germantown, passed away on November 17, 2023, surrounded by love. She was born May 5, 1958 to the late Donna Jean McCoy and Lawrence A. Curren. She is survived by her soulmate Pat; two stepchildren: Frannny (Omar) Marti of Middletown, DE and Patrick (Debbie) Carlin, Jr. of Claymont, DE; four grandchildren: Olivia, Madeline, Brooke, and Rodney; two great grandsons: Sebastian and Declan; four siblings: Larry (Kim) Curren and Donna Marie (David) Springer, both of Eau Claire, WI, and Bonita Giandonato and Philip Giandonato, both of Wilmington, DE; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her late parents Philip J and Donna J (McCoy) Giandonato, Linda is preceded in death by her brother-in-law: Michael Carlin.
Linda graduated in 1976 from Concord High School, located in Wilmington, DE. She was a social butterfly and had lots of friends! Following graduation, Linda did what she did best -- taking care of people by waitressing and bartending. She was never prouder than when she supported the family business, Phil’s Cozy Corner, by filling in for her dad behind the bar! Linda worked in the insurance industry for many years with AIG. She was the voice on the other end of the phone when loved ones of the 9/11 victims called. Those calls hit her hard… She later accepted a position in the Colonial School District as the assistant to the principal at McCullough Middle School, located in New Castle, DE. She enjoyed working with the kids.
On April 6, 2009, Linda married the love of her life, Patrick Carlin. Pat and Linda were destined to be together, having known each other since she was a teenager. Linda made lots of friends in her forever home in New Germantown, where the Carlin clan all grew up. She loved their quiet life in the mountains, but wished they were able to see their granddaughters more! Linda was caring, honest, funny, strong, independent, generous, and loving! She was always “put together” to look her best. She was a fierce defender of those she loved. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, MeMom, and friend.
A Celebration of Life for Linda will be held at a later date in the Spring.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Nickel Lochstampfor Family Funeral Home, Inc. of Loysville, PA.
