Leon C Cleland

Leon C. Cleland, age 68, of Landisburg, passed into the loving arms of his Savior on May 27, 2020 in the Sarah A Todd Memorial Home. Born on July 6, 1951 to the late John Newton Cleland and Esther (Reisinger) Cleland, he was a graduate of Big Spring High School class of 1970.

A man of few words, Leon was a devoted father and husband. He was a farmer at heart and had worked with his Grandfather and Uncle for years. He loved being out in the fields operating tractors and equipment.  Also, he worked for Cleland Construction as a skilled carpenter and excelled at doing trim work. Leon enjoyed his work as a Spring Twp Supervisor where he served for 20 years. He often spoke of the acquaintances and friendships he made as a supervisor. 

Leon was a member of the Church of the Living Christ.

In addition to his mother, surviving him are his wife of almost 49 years, Cheryl (Sweger) Cleland, his three sons; Brad Cleland (Johnathan Detrick) of Mechanicsburg, Eric Cleland (Rose Pallotta) of Carlisle, and Nathan Cleland (Nancy Witter) of Shermans Dale. He also leaves behind a brother David Cleland (Brenda) of Carlisle and a sister Kathy Gayman (Earl) of Newville. Lastly, he has three loving grandchildren Carleigh, age 14, Trenton, age 12, and Ava, age 5, who miss him greatly.    

A viewing will be held from 1-2 PM on Monday, June 1, 2020 at the Church of the Living Christ, 2401 Fort Robinson Rd, Loysville, PA 17047, with a service with Pastor Doran Wray to  follow at 2PM, ; masks are encouraged and social distancing is to be followed. Burial will follow the service at Reibers Church Cemetery, Shermans Dale.

The family would like to thank all of the staff at the Sarah Todd Nursing Home for their kindness to Leon over the past couple of years and especially these past trying months.
