Mr. Kenneth Leon “Shine” Blumenschein, 84, of Elliottsburg, passed away Friday afternoon March 1st, 2019 at his residence. He was the husband of Mrs. Gloria Alberta Carpenter Blumenschein, his wife of 65 years.
Born October 19, 1934, in Elliottsburg, he was a son of the late John Franklin and Eva Myers Blumenschein.
Shine worked for many years, retiring in 1997, from H. R. Wentzel and Sons, and from farming.
He was a member of the former St. Peters United Church of Christ, Spring Township.
Surviving besides his wife is his son, Michael Blumenschein and wife Ada of Elliottsburg; grandchildren, Bradley Blumenschein of North Carolina, Ryan Blumenschein of Landisburg, Nathan Blumenschein of Arlington, Virginia, Alicia Beiler of Loysville, and Joy Garland of Bellville; thirteen great -grandchildren; his brother, Leonard Blumenschein, Sr, of Elliottsburg; several cousins including George Hoffman, Jr., of Elliottsburg; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Blumenschein of Loysville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Shine was preceded in death by his son, Roger L. Blumenschein, who proceeded who died on January 25, 2015.
The Nickel-Lochstampfor Funeral Home, Inc., and Cremation Center, Loysville, has been entrusted with the arrangements. Services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family.
