Kathleen L. (Aungst) Gilmer, age 76 of Dauphin, passed away in her home with her daughter by her side on May 28, 2025. Born in Harrisburg on March 8, 1949, to the late Kenneth Aungst and Marguerite Inez Harling, Kathleen is survived by her three children: Jan Marie Gilmer of Dauphin, Joseph Edward Gilmer (Annette) of Wellsville, NY, and C. Douglas Gilmer (Shannon) of McMurray; twelve grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and two siblings: Kenneth Aungst of GA and Shirley Rohrer of Harrisburg. In addition to her parents, Kathleen is preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Charles George Gilmer; and her brother, Robert Aungst from Mechanicsburg.
Kathleen graduated with the Harrisburg High School Class of 1967. In addition to raising a family and running a household, Kathleen was a telephone operator with Bell Telephone Company of Harrisburg for many years then worked part-time office jobs until she retired in 2008.
After retirement she enjoyed vacationing in Florida and Virginia as well as taking cruises. In her rare free time, Kathleen was an avid flower gardener, loved to crochet and loved animals. She was a hard working woman with a big heart who enjoyed interacting with people. She also had no filter and would say whatever came to mind no matter the place or company around her.
