Jim R. Wilson of Shermans Dale died on November 4, 2021. He was 73. He was born in Allensville on August 21, 1948 to the late John Frank and Isabel (Sausman) Wilson. He is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Judy K. (Garlow) Wilson, three children: James Robert (Dawn) Wilson, Jr. of New Cumberland, Daniel G. Wilson of South Bend, IN, and Alanna Wilson of Mechanicsburg; four grandchildren; and three siblings: Helen Parson (Lou) of McClure, Isabel (Donald) Hartman of Shermans Dale, and John Reed (Susan) Wilson of Newville. In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by six siblings: Judy Wilson (infant), John Frank Wilson, Joseph Wilson, Jacob Thomas Wilson, Jay Kenneth Wilson, and Jonathan Wilson.
Jim graduated from West Perry High School and proudly served in the United States Army. He served in Germany during the Vietnam War, where he earned the National Defense Service Medal and his M14 Sharpshooter award. Upon returning home, Jim worked at Purina Mills (now Land O Lakes) until he retired in 2010, after 38 years of service.
Jim was a gentleman who appreciated the basic and simple things in life. He built his own home and garage and was able to complete his own car repairs. He enjoyed watching the nature from his front porch – that big noisy woodpecker, deer, and bear. He loved good beer and cheese, and was passionate about his old tractor.
Services are being held privately and interment will be at Landisburg Cemetery.
