Jean (Beasom) Dum

Jean (Beasom) Dum, age 86, of Elliottsburg passed from this Earth and joined her Heavenly Father on December 7, 2021.  Jean was born at home on Christmas Eve (December 24, 1934) to the late C. Melvin and Jeanne (Kipp) Beasom of Millerstown.  She is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Donald L. Dum; three daughters:  Sue (Rick) Pinti of Harrisburg, Julie (Todd) Shelley of Landisburg and Patti (Dave) McLaughlin of Elliottsburg; six grandchildren:  Adam (Anna) Pinti of Hummelstown, Melissa Nagy (William Warren) of Virginia Beach, VA, Angela Pinti of Harrisburg, Cole McLaughlin of Elliottsburg, Brett Shelley of Frederick, MD and Mark (Ashlie) Shelley of Greenville, SC; and six great grandchildren:  Natalie, Jacob, Skylar, Tyler, Emma Jean, and Kaysen.  In addition to her parents, Jean is predeceased in death by her siblings:  Helen Vogel, Richard Beasom, Leonard Beasom, and Wayne “Nutsy” Beasom.  Jean was an excellent wife, mother, and grandmother.  She passionately loved her family!

Jean began her adult career as a secretary for Nationwide Insurance and was a cook in the cafeteria for West Perry School District.  After getting married, she began her most challenging career as the wife of a farmer and Mom.  She efficiently ran the household and raised a family.  She was the babysitter, when needed.  She baked cookies and pies.  Her pet peeve was a dirty kitchen floor, and she would complain, “It’s soooo sticky!”  Her contagious giggle will be deeply missed.  She was not a fussy lady, but she was particular about her lipstick and hair.  Jean was a faithful member of the New Hope United Church of Christ of Landisburg.

Graveside services for Jean will be held on Monday, December 13 at 1 PM in Elliottsburg Cemetery, with Pastor Joshua Craley officiating.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Jean’s name to New Hope United Church of Christ, 108 S. Carlisle Street, Landisburg, PA  17040.
