James W. McMillan, 71, of Landisburg passed {away} on Saturday November 28, 2020 at home. He was born April 26, 1949 in Altoona, to the late Wilbur E. McMillan Nora (Stewart) McMillan.
James was a 1967 graduate of Cumberland Valley High School. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1970 to 1974. He retired after 33 years at Hampden Township. James was a member of the Mechanicsburg Club, AMVETS Post 293, VFW Post 477, Adams Lodge 319, Enola Sportsmen’s Association, along with several others.
James is survived by his wife of 50 years, Adel “Salli” K. McMillan, two children: James W. (Stacy) McMillan, Jr of Landisburg and Diana L. (Robert) Speaker of Cinnaminson, NJ; three grandchildren: Hayden M Shreffler of Mechanicsburg, Mason S. McMillan and Madison S. McMillan of Shermans Dale; three siblings: Darrell L. (Mary Jane) McMillan of Mechanicsburg, Karen L. (Bill) Zelner of Enola and Sharon L. (Michael) Horning of Mechanicsburg. In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by four siblings: Edward T. McMillan, Wilbur E. McMillan, Kenny E. McMillan, and Ronald E. McMillan.
James enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed listening to music. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and Pittsburgh sports fan. He played for the Pittsburgh Pirates Club Team for Brandeton Gulf Coast League, where he appeared as a pitcher. James will be forever loved and missed by his family and friends.
Private services will be held at Fort Indiantown Gap. Because of the large number of people James influenced and the current COVID pandemic, the family is videotaping the service and will post it on Facebook.
