George Russell Fearnbaugh

George Russell Fearnbaugh of Ickesburg, age 83, died on November 25, 2022.  Known by some as “Turkey”, he was born in Lebanon on August 23, 1939 to the late Russell and Mary (Shellehamer) Fearnbaugh.  George is survived by three daughters:  Wanda (Clinton) Geesaman of Sebring, FL, Carol Fearnbaugh of Newport, and Dena Dupert of Shermans Dale; five grandchildren:  Chandra (Ronald “Casey”) Coates of Loveland, OH, Jie (Jana) Geesaman of Las Vegas, NV, Travus (Amber) Geesaman of Alexandria, KY, Bobbie-Jo Dupert of Shermans Dale, and Brandon (Marlo) Dupert of Shermans Dale; five great grandchildren:  Krista of Cincinnati, OH, Schlyer of West Chester, OH, Logan of Loveland, OH, Bristol of Independence, KY and Hayden of Shermans Dale; one great-great granddaughter:  Grace; and two siblings:  Ray (Susan) Fearnbaugh of Mechanicsburg and Susan (Gary) Comp of Elliottsburg.  In addition to his parents, George is preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Carol (Spangler) Fearnbaugh; and two siblings:  William Fearnbaugh and Martha Dietz.

George worked as a Janitor/Maintenance Specialist for West Perry Middle School, from which he retired in 2013.  Prior to his retirement, he was self-employed as a drywall hanger and finisher.  When he wasn’t working, George passionately built and maintained late model race cars and Halloween parade floats.  He also enjoyed live Country and Gospel music.  He was a very giving individual and would do anything for others.

The Gathering of Friends and Memorial Service for George will be held at Nickel Lochstampfor Family Funeral Home in Loysville, in the newly renovated chapel, on Tuesday, December 13.  The Gathering of Friends will be held from 6 to 7 PM, followed immediately by the Memorial Service at 7 PM, with Pastor Rafe Sanderson officiating.
