George Berrier Obituary

George Albert Berrier, 91, a lifelong Perry County resident, joined his Heavenly Father on July 22, 2021.  Born at home on June 20, 1930 to the late Charles E. Sr. and Charlotte (Stone) Berrier of New Bloomfield, he was a loving and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather.  He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Dorothy “Dot” (Sheaffer) Berrier, two daughters:  Jill Berrier (Lloyd) Freeman and Lisa Ellen Berrier, both of Enola, two grandchildren:  Erin Freeman (Matt) Moyer of Elizabethtown, and Ethan (Amberlynn) Freeman of Harrisburg; a sister, Rena Adams of New Bloomfield, and sister-in-law, Katie Sheaffer of New Bloomfield.  In addition to his parents, George is preceded in death by his brother, Charles E. Berrier.

After high school, George proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict.  After returning home, he worked as a house painter and carpenter, and over 30 years for his brother Charlie’s business of custom home building.  He loved to tinker in his work shop, often building and refurbishing furniture items for his family.

George’s first priority was always his family, taking great pleasure in caring for his wife and two daughters.  Summers were filled with weekend camping trips, and picnics to Gettysburg National Park.  George loved the outdoors and spent many hours working with his wife in their flower and vegetable gardens.  He loved to sit on his porch and enjoy the wildlife surrounding his country home.

George was a member of Christ Lutheran Church of New Bloomfield, where he served as a Deacon and assisted with church facility maintenance.  He was a past member of the New Bloomfield Fire Company and Sportsman Association.  He also participated for many years in the New Bloomfield bowling leagues, and enjoyed pitching horseshoes.

A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, 46 W. High St., New Bloomfield, PA  17068
