Frances I. Ewing passed away Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022, with loving family by her side. She was born in Landisburg, to the late Commodore Frank and Ida Mae (Morrison) Diddia. Frances graduated from Landisburg High School and from the Carlisle Business School. In addition to her late parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Colonel Howard F. Ewing, her daughter, Amber Leibig, and siblings: Helen Lee, Betty, and Lois. She is survived by her daughter Susan and son-in-law Damian Caracciolo, and two grandsons Daniel and Luke.
Frances worked for the state government and had many civic duties. She retired from the Health, Welfare and Administrative Services division. Frances worked as the account manager for Glady’s Restaurant and Johnson Motors. She served several terms as the Landisburg Mayor (24 years) and made numerous town improvements. Through grants, the town now enjoys a beautiful playground called Henry Park and handicap sidewalks. She and her late daughter Amber, secured the Christmas wreaths from New Cumberland which grace the town during Christmas season. Frances was politically involved as the Landisburg Judge of Elections and The Minority Inspector. She was an active member of the Kennedy’s Valley Church of God.
Funeral services for Frances will be held on Thursday, April 21 at Landisburg Church of God. The viewing will begin at 11 AM. The funeral service will begin at 12 PM and will be officiated by Pastor Jeremy Blair. Interment will follow the funeral service in Landisburg Cemetery.
