Florence Elizabeth (Swartz) Hoffman, 88 years and 22 days of, New Bloomfield, entered into rest on Sunday, August 13, 2023 in the Penn State Holy Spirit Hospital. Florence had been a resident of Carroll Township since 1965, and prior to that resided in Harrisburg. She was born in Carlisle on July 21, 1935, a daughter of the late Herman Paul and Cynthia Beatrice (Stone) Swartz. She was united in marriage in Winchester, VA on October 22, 1951, to Franklin Roosevelt Hoffman, who survives. They celebrated nearly 72 years of wedded bliss.
She attended the Parkinson Road School near New Bloomfield and was a member of the New Hope United Church of Christ, Landisburg. She retired after over 20 years employment at the Iceland Seafood Company, Camp Hill. She then was employed part-time at Turkey Hill, Mechanicsburg and at Mutzbaugh's Market, Duncannon.
Her family described Florence as a good, hardworking mother and wife. Besides her beloved husband, Franklin, she is survived by four children: Cynthia M. (Joseph) Lauver, New Bloomfield, Paul H. (Karen) Hoffman, New Cumberland, Darlene E. (Robert) Clouser, New Bloomfield, and Richard F. Hoffman and his significant other, Elizabeth A. Naccarato, New Bloomfield. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Corey, Dustin, Jeremy, Shawn; and one great-grandchild, Erica. Florence was preceded in death by a great-grandchild, Gage Lauver on November 3, 2021, by a brother, Paul W. Swartz and by a sister, Shirley M. Swartz. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Florence's funeral service on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 12 noon in the calming chapel of the Nickel-Lochstampfor Family Funeral Home, 3226 Sherman's Valley Road, Loysville. Rev. William Pipp will officiate. Final resting place will be in the Saint Peter's Church Cemetery, Pine Hill Road, Landisburg. A visitation and viewing will be held on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
