Eva Burnham Obituary

Eva Joanne (Lightner) Burnham, 85 of Blain, died on July 2, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.  Joanne was born at home on January 13, 1939, to the late Jacob Donald and Mildred Isabelle (Kuhn) Lightner of Landisburg.  She is survived by three children:  Sherry Ann Brubaker (Robert) of Mount Joy, James E. Burnham and Scott D. Burnham (Stephanie), both of Blain; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and three siblings:  Dennis Lightner (Carol) and Richard Lightner, both of Shermans Dale, and Clifford Lightner (Alethia) of Blain.  In addition to her parents, Joanne is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, James A. Burnham; and seven siblings:  Jean Lightner Kuhn, Edward Lightner, Jane Lightner Sheaffer, Donna Lightner Ellerman, Barry Lightner, Mary Lou Lightner Garber, and Vincent Lightner.

Joanne graduated from Greenpark Union High School and continued her education with additional social work courses.  Joanne was a member of Grace Brethren Church in Blain.  She retired from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare after 20 years of service as a social worker.  She also worked for the Commonwealth’s Department of Transportation.  Her great passion was her work at the Blain Hotel, where she was both owner and cook.  She loved cooking good homemade food!

Funeral services for Joanne will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
