Elfriede Comp Obituary

Elfriede Comp, 80, of Elliottsburg, passed away peacefully with family by her side, on Saturday, December 19, 2020.  She was the beloved wife of the late Franklin D. R. Comp.

Born in Neu-Ulm, Germany on September 25, 1940.  She was the daughter of the late Martin Eitle and Mathilde (Rommel) Eitle.  Elfriede first attended school in Attenhofen, a small village outside of New-Ulm, and later returned to Neu-Ulm to complete her German equivalent High School education.  After her marriage to Franklin Comp, the family eventually settled in Elliottsburg, PA.  Elfriede spent several years working as a seamstress at PEBB Manufacturing in Ickesburg, PA.  Later, she worked for Carlisle Tire and Rubber Company in Carlisle, PA.  Prior to her retirement in 2001, she was an employee of C. H. Masland & Sons in Carlisle, PA.

Later in her life, she met her loving companion, Orlin, and greatly enjoyed sharing the adventure of traveling and camping in their recreational vehicle.  She particularly enjoyed visiting the many historical areas and natural wonders across the United States.  She traveled extensively up and down the Eastern seaboard from Maine to Florida.  Her travels included road trips from the East Coast to the West Coast, across the northern and southern tiers of the United States.  She spent the winter months in Florida enjoying fresh strawberries in Plant City, FL.  She most enjoyed returning to her home to spend time with her family.  Elfriede enjoyed being outside, mowing, trimming, and grooming her property.  However, her primary love and enjoyment came from planting and caring for her many flowers and flower beds, which she planted in large numbers around her property.

She enjoyed reading, particularly history and autobiographies.  She was a skilled seamstress, and completed many projects for herself and family members.  In addition, she crocheted many blankets for her children and grand children.

Elfriede was the loving sister of Erika Aichinger and her husband Gustl Aichinger of Reutti, Germany, and is survived by her companion, Orlin Brudos.

Elfriede is survived by her children, Bonnie D. Wheeler (daughter) and Thomas H. Wheeler of Wakefield, RI; Elfriede (Louise) Sausman (daughter) and J. Craig Sausman of Elliottsburg, PA; Robert M. Comp (son) and Wanda Comp of Millerstown, PA; Frank J Comp (son) and Denise Comp of Millerstown, PA.

Elfriede has 5 Grand Children, Stephanie L. Comp of Liverpool, PA; Jennifer Dillman of New Bloomfield, PA; Angela Flynn of Woonsocket, RI; Ashley Mitchell of Seven Stars, PA; and Shane Comp of Millersburg, PA.

Elfriede has eight Great Grandchildren.
