Eileen Mae (Kessler) Mayfield, 77 of New Bloomfield, passed away unexpectedly on March 17, 2025 in her home. Born at home on July 19, 1947 to the late George G. and Ruth H. (Sanderson) Kessler of New Germantown, Eileen is survived by her mother, Ruth H. (Sanderson) Kessler of New Germantown; her son, Mark Varady (Jennifer) of Halifax; four grandchildren: Sara Schmidt of Millersburg, Mason Varady, Meghan Varady, and Violet Varady – all of Halifax; one great grandchild: Liam Hoffman; and five siblings: Georgia Connell (Dan Espen) of Chester, NJ, Lorene Eichmann of New Germantown, Cherie Vogelsong (Joe) of Shermans Dale, Mike Kessler (Trudy) of New Germantown, and Marla Gates (Dave) of Duncannon. In addition to her father, Eileen is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 32 years, Ermon P. Mayfield, who died in 2012.
Eileen graduated from West Perry High School and continued her education at Harrisburg Area Community College, where she earned her associate’s degree in business. Upon graduation, she began her career at Pennsylvania Automotive Association, from which she retired in 2021 after over 50 years of service. She was the Insurance Director. Eileen was also a very active member at New Bloomfield United Methodist Church. Her roles at the church included: Administrative Council chair, Worship chair, Liturgist, monthly newsletter editor, United Methodist Women and Faith treasurer, and she helped with Life Bank.
Eileen’s family described her as dedicated, thoughtful, compassionate, family-oriented, devoted and loyal.
Funeral services for Eileen will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025, in the calming chapel of Nickel Lochstampfor Family Funeral Home, Inc. located at 3626 Shermans Valley Road, Loysville, PA 17047. The visitation time will be from 10 AM to 12 noon. The funeral service will begin at 12 noon, and Reverend Ellen B. Scamahorn will be officiating. Rev. Scamahorn is the Pastor at New Bloomfield United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to New Bloomfield United Methodist Church, 100 W. Main Street, New Bloomfield, PA 17068.
