Dutch Junior Smith of Landisburg, age 70, passed away on November 6, 2023 at his home. Born in Carlisle on April 3, 1953 to the late Wilmer N. and Ruby I. (Hess) Keck, he was a devoted husband, companion, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his faithful companion of 34 years, Angela A. Wilson; three children: Kristen L. (Roy B. III) Salisbury of Carlisle, John W. (Tabitha) Wilson of Columbia, and Adam C. (Krista) Wilson of New Kingston; two grandchildren: Ryleigh and Chase; two siblings: Judy A. (Francis) Diehl and Brian E. (Danielle) Smith, both of Shermans Dale; and too many nieces and nephews to list. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his former wife, Carol E. (Grimm) Smith.
After high school, Dutch began his lifelong career in manufacturing. He retired in 2010 with almost 40 years of service from Metal Industries (formerly Capital Products) as an inventory supervisor. He was the primary caregiver for the last 6 years of his mother’s life. Dutch was an avid outdoor sportsman. He loved to fish and hunt. His favorite meal was meat, potatoes, corn, macaroni and cheese, and baked beans. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Yellow Breeches Anglers and Conservation Association, and Blain Sportsmen’s Club, as well as a social member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Funeral services for Dutch will be held on Saturday, November 11 in the calming chapel of Nickel Lochstampfor Family Funeral Home, Inc. in Loysville. The viewing and receiving of friends and family will be held from 11 AM to 12 noon. The funeral service will begin at 12 noon, and the officiant will be Rev. William Pipp. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
