Duff “Scott” Lewis, 63 of Millerstown, died unexpectedly at his home on November 12, 2023. Born in Baltimore, MD to the late Duff W. and Eugenia P. (Limmer) Lewis, Jr., Scott is survived by his devoted companion of eight years, Anna DiFazio; two boys: Jason Harper and Duff Tyler Lewis; and three siblings: Belinda (Chas) Lewis of Downingtown, Beth (Wade) Knouse of Tucson, AZ, and Duff Blake (Rachel) Lewis of Salisbury, MD.
Scott graduated from Bath County High School in Virginia and enlisted in the United States Navy. He enjoyed running in his younger years, but always was passionate about shooting guns and blowing up things. The Navy honed this man’s passion for the next 17 years of career service. Scott was a chief petty officer who had the rating of gunner’s mate, thus his rank was GMC – chief gunner’s mate. He specialized in shooting, instructing, and maintaining weapons. His training included: 76MM MK-75 Gun, Basics of Naval Explosive Hazard Control, M9 Instructor, Shipboard Small Arms Instructor, Ship Security Engagement Tactics, Navy Recruiting Orientation Unit, and Ammunition Administration.
While serving, he earned the following decoration, medals, badges, citations and campaign ribbons: Southwest Asia Service Medal, Merit Unit Command, Good Conduct Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Gold Wreath, National Defense Service Medal, Navy “E” Ribbon, Navy Expeditionary Medal, Coast Guard Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon, Expert .38 Medal, Expert Rifle Ribbon, and Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal.
A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
