Donald L Hartman, Sr.

Donald L. Hartman, Sr., 73 of Carlisle, and formerly of Shermans Dale, valiantly succumbed to lung disease on August 24, 2025.  Born in Mechanicsburg on August 10, 1952, to the late Harvey F. and Florence N. (Mixell) Hartman, Donald is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Isabel Ida (Wilson) Hartman; four children:  Donald L. Hartman, Jr. of Carlisle, David L. Hartman (Stephanie) of Carlisle, Donna J. Negley of Shermans Dale, and Dennis L. Hartman (Michele) of Ickesburg; fourteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and four siblings:  Kenneth Hartman (Karen) of Mechanicsburg; Harvey Hartman of Carlisle, Delores Hartman of Carlisle, and Diana Marshall (Dave) of Halifax.

Donald graduated from Carlisle High School’s Class of 1970 and started a career in maintenance – most notably, Valk Manufacturing in New Kingstown, Capital Products in Mechanicsburg, and Wilcox Forging Corporation in Mechanicsburg.  He worked most recently at Cumberland Valley School District, from which he retired in 2017.  He spent his retirement following sports teams, doing yard work and spending time with his wife, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He loved to bowl at the ABC West Bowling Alley in Mechanicsburg and watch cowboy shows on television.

A Graveside funeral service will be held at Landisburg Cemetery on Friday, August 29 at 1 PM.  All are welcome to attend.
