Dolly M. (Lightner) Smith, 93 of Loysville, gained her angel wings on December 23, 2025. Born at home on August 21, 1932, to the late Hobson S. and Nora A. (Jacobs) Lightner of Elliottsburg, Dolly is survived by two daughters: Kathy Smith of New Cumberland and Rebecca Smith (Sue) of Fayetteville; daughter-in-law, Lori Smith of Loysville; four grandchildren: Paul G. Seiber of New Cumberland, Benjamin L. Seiber (Valerie) of Harrisburg, Cody Smith (Shannon) of Carlisle, and Colton Smith (Stevie) of Newport; and five great grandchildren. Dolly is preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Paul E. Smith, who died in 2013; two children: Lizbeth Christine and Rian N.R. Smith; grandson, Trae Brownley; and sister, Sophie Gutshall. Dolly was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She always put family first and was generous, giving and loving.
After graduating with the 1950 Class of Green Park Union High School, Dolly worked for Reeves Hoffman in Carlisle and then joined the State Employee’s Retirement System (SERS) in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a Retirement Counselor, from which she retired with over 30 years of service. She was a member of Tressler Memorial Free Lutheran Church in Loysville, where she served as an active volunteer of Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the American Business Women’s Association. She enjoyed painting and crocheting, gifting many blankets to family, friends and the church.
Memorial services will be at the convenience of the family.
