David Kell Obituary

David Ernest Kell, 73 of Ickesburg, entered into eternal rest on March 15, 2026.  Known to many as “Buzzard”, he was born in Carlisle on May 4, 1952, to the late David Edward and Dessie Margaret (Hockenberry) Kell.  He is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Beverly Ann (Stone) Kell; five children:  Michael D. Kell (Karena) of Blain, Bobbie Jo Rankin (Fred) of Blairs Mills, Arthur W. Kell (Jennifer) of Ickesburg, Zachary G. Kell (Nicole) of Mechanicsburg, and Eli C. Kell (Lindsay) of Ickesburg; eight grandsons, five granddaughters, and two great grandsons; two sisters:  Eva K Group of Elliottsburg and Trudy Kell of Ickesburg; and a special friend to the family:  Amy Kell of Ickesburg.  In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by his son Matthew E Kell who died in 2021.

David graduated with the 1970 Class of West Perry High School and began his career as a diesel mechanic.  In his early career, he worked for Guy Kuhn and Sons and Dick Black.  In 1985, he started with Waste Management and retired in 2010 with 25 years of service.  He was a member of Faith United Church in Ickesburg, Ickesburg Sportsmans Club, Millerstown Moose Lodge #925, and the Ickesburg Fire Company.  In his free time, David was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt, fish and trap.

Funeral services for David will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at Faith United Church, 6968 Veterans Way, Ickesburg, PA  17037.  The viewing will be held from 10 AM to 12 noon, followed by the funeral service at 12 noon, with Rev. Elaine C. Moyer officiating.  Interment will follow the funeral service, with a special procession route, to Blain Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Faith United Church, PO Box 248, Ickesburg, PA  17037, Ickesburg Fire Department, 10350 Raccoon Valley Road, Ickesburg, PA  17037, or Ickesburg Sportsmans Club, 306 Snyder Lane, Ickesburg, PA  17037.
