Connie (Hockenberry) Zellers, age 67 of Blain, left her Earthly home and ascended into the arms of Jesus on September 5, 2021. Born at home on December 16, 1953 to the late Reuben H. and Irene (Hockenberry) Hockenberry, Connie was the last baby born at home in Blain. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She is preceded in death by her late husband of 40 years, Terry L. Zellers, and her two brothers: Glenn Dobyns and Reuben E. Hockenberry.
Connie had a servant’s heart – She loved to help others. She is survived by her two children: Tonya (Michael) Worthington of Blain, and Cory (Wendy) Zellers of Pleasant Unity; six grandchildren: Sarah Kerstetter, Tyler Zellers, Kassidy Worthington, Mason Zellers, Ella Worthington, and Logan Worthington; and her companion, John McAdoo.
Connie worked as the secretary for Blain Borough and retired in 2014. She also worked as a substitute secretary for West Perry School District. In addition to raising a family and working full-time, Connie was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ in Blain, where she actively participated in the Women’s Fellowship, Consistory, and anywhere she was needed. She was a founding member of the Blain Parks Department. She was a member of the Blain Lions Club, Blain Ambulance Club, Blain Firemen’s Ladies Auxiliary, and an active volunteer with the Blain Senior and Community Center.
A public viewing will be held on Friday, September 10 at the Zion United Church of Christ in Blain from 10 AM – noon. The funeral service will follow the viewing, at noon on Friday, with Pastor Mike Boehm officiating. Interment will be immediately following the funeral service at Blain Cemetery.
