Claire Snyder Obituary

**Please note- The services for Mrs. Snyder have been cancelled until further notice**

Claire M. (Knouse) Snyder, 88, formerly of Ickesburg, entered peacefully into her eternal home on Friday, February 21, 2020 at the Thornwald Home in Carlisle.

Born October 27, 1931 in Harrisburg, she was the daughter of the late Charles W. and Elizabeth S. (Goodling) Knouse and attended Lower Paxton High School.

Claire was the widow of Luther L. Snyder, who passed away in 1994 after 46 years of marriage.  She was also preceded in death by her son, Paul Snyder; her daughter, Susanna Kirk; and her brother, Charles Knouse.

She lived in Perry County all of her adult life, and was the organist for (the former) Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, Bridgeport and Faith United Church, Ickesburg, her current church family.  Playing for her churches was Claire's way of serving her Lord with joyful music. She also served Him as a volunteer at Perry Village.

Always keeping her hands busy, she enjoyed crocheting and from childhood on, picking walnuts and hickory nuts to sell.  Claire collected owls and loved music, but mostly she dedicated her life to worshiping her Lord and caring for her beloved family.

Surviving are her children:  George (and Sandra) Snyder, McAlisterville, Luther (and Sharon) Snyder, Elliotsburg and Jeanette (and Jim) Fuller, Newport; her brother:  C. A. "Buck" (and Robin) Knouse, Newport; 12 grandchildren:  Heidi Reigel, Kristine Bailor, Kathleen Shambaugh, Niki Stevens, Katrina Smith, Jamie Parsons, Luke Snyder, Jaria Price, Jessica Marshall, Janelle Snyder, Nick Bartho and Sarah Bartho; 24 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at a future time when it is safe to hold gatherings.

Claire's family would like to extend a grateful thank-you to the staff at Thornwald Home for the loving care she received while living there.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Faith United Church, 6968 Veteran's Way, Ickesburg, 17037 or to Thornwald Home, 442 Walnut Bottom Road, Carlisle, 17013.
