Carolyn (Franklin) Ewing, age 82 of Waynesboro, received her angel’s wings on December 18, 2021. Born at home on September 3, 1939 to the late Harry and Ivan (Statler) Franklin of Marion, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is preceded in death by her husband of many years, Richard K. Ewing, who died in 2005. In addition to her parents and husband, Carolyn is also preceded in death by her son, Richard T. Ewing and her brother, Donald Franklin. Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Kelly (James) Ray of Waynesboro, three grandchildren: Amber Marie (Robert) Ford of Waynesboro, James (Kimmy) Ray, Jr. of Chambersburg, and Noah Ray of Waynesboro; five great grandchildren: Jade, Saphire, Eli, Abby, and Baby Malachi arriving soon; and her brother, Gary (Dottie) Franklin of New Franklin.
In addition to raising a family and running a household, Carolyn attended Antrim Faith Baptist Church in Waynesboro. She loved to eat out at restaurants and go shopping with her family. She enjoyed raising and spoiling her grandchildren, and special trips to Lancaster.
A public viewing will be held Thursday, December 30 from 12 noon to 1 PM at 48 S. Church Street, Waynesboro (former funeral home location), followed by a funeral service at 1 PM with Reverend Donald L. Myer officiating. Interment will be at Antietam Cemetery.
