Carl Kitner Obituary

Carl R. Kitner, age 80 of New Bloomfield, valiantly succumbed to lung disease on January 22, 2025.  He died at home with his wife, Edna, by his side.  Born in Carlisle on August 27, 1944, to the late Raymond L. and Miriam (Barrick) Kitner, Carl is survived by his devoted wife of 28 years, Edna (Bitting) Kitner; two daughters:  Jill Smith (Scott) of Blain and Amy Boyer of Ickesburg; three grandchildren:  Megan Smith and Benjamin Smith, both of Blain, and Jimmy Boyer of Newport; two brothers:  Raymond L. Kitner (Fran) of Shermans Dale, and Dale Kitner (Bernadette) of Marysville; and his sister is law, Mary Kitner of Shermans Dale.  In addition to his parents, Carl is preceded in death by his first wife, Jeannie (Baker) Kitner, who died in 1991; and his brother, Gerald Kitner.

Carl graduated from Perry Joint High School with the Class of 1963 and followed his passion for electricity.  He started his own business, Carl Kitner Electric, from which he retired in 2005, where he worked as an electrician.  He also worked for Kitner Brothers Excavating, Heim Electric and Maslands throughout his career.  In his free time, Carl enjoyed hunting both turkeys and deer using both gun and bow.  He shared this favorite pastime with his wife, who hunted right alongside him.  Carl also was a guy who could fix anything.  He loved tinkering on anything that didn’t work.
