Anna Mae (Brickner) Rice

Anna Mae (Brickner) Rice, age 84, of Elliottsburg, gained her angel wings on February 7, 2022.  Born at home on August 5, 1937 to the late Goldie (Brownawell) Brickner of Blain, and raised by the late Milton “Bones” and Mary (Brownawell) Adams, Ann is survived by her devoted husband of 47 years, Ronald Rice.  In addition to her husband, Ann is survived by her five children:  Rosalie Lowe of Loysville, Linda Carbaugh of Loysville, Liz Shanafelter of Shermans Dale, Sherry Jumper of Shermans Dale, and Tim Kiner of Newport; six grandchildren:  Tony Shanafelter, Troy Lowe, Stacy Kiner, Zach Kiner, Mike Jumper, and Misty Jumper; too-many-to-count great grandchildren; and her brother, James “Jimmy” Nelson of SC.  In addition to her mother, aunt and uncle, Ann is preceded in death by her granddaughter, April Shull, her great grandson, Tyler Shanafelter, and her siblings:  Robert Brickner, Ralph Brickner, Raymond Brickner, William “Bill” Adams, and Ida Reigh.  Ann was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.  She always put family first and was generous, giving and loving.

In addition to raising a family and running a household, Ann worked at Maslands for a period.  She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, reading murder mysteries, cleaning the house, and visiting antique shops.  Her family (and the rest of the world) will miss her dearly!

Funeral services for Ann will be on Friday, February 11 in the newly renovated chapel of Nickel Lochstampfor Family Funeral Home in Loysville.  The viewing will be held from 10 AM to noon.  The funeral service will begin at noon, officiated by Pastor Scott Ryan.  Interment will follow the funeral at Bloomfield Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either Landisburg Emergency Medical Services, 301 Faculty Ave, Landisburg, PA  17040 OR New Bloomfield Emergency Medical Services, 23 W. High St, New Bloomfield, PA  17068.
