Warren L. Deveney, age 78 of Elliottburg passed away unexpectedly on November 27, 2018 at the UPMC West Shore Hospital, Mechanicsburg, PA.
Born November 8, 1940 in Harrisburg, PA, he was the son of the late Leon and Ethel Deveney, Sr.
He was a graduate of East Pennsboro High School in Enola. He also attended Grove City College for two years.
On March 18, 1967 at the Zion United Church of Christ, Blain, he married his wife of 51 years Doris (Gray) Deveney.
He retired as a supervisor from Universal Protective Packaging in Mechanicsburg. He had also worked for Bank of Blain and Dauphin Deposit Bank.
He coached midget football in East Pennsboro and managed Blain Baseball from Little league through Legion Ball for over a period of 50 years. He enjoyed playing golf, hunting and most of all fishing with his grandson Carson and attending Carson’s baseball games.
He was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ, Blain, where he served on Consistory and the Landisburg Fire and Ambulance Companies.
In addition to his wife, Warren is survived by son Michael D. Deveney and his wife Vonda of Jonestown, Pa and grandson Carson. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother Leon Deveney, Jr.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at the Zion U.C.C. Church, 24 W. Main Street, Blain from 9 AM to 11 AM. Funeral Services will follow at 11 AM. in the church with Rev. Michael Boehm officiating. Interment will follow in Blain Cemetery.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to either Zion U.C.C. Church, 24 W. Main Street, Blain, PA 17006 or New Covenant Christian School (Building Fund) 452 Ebenzer Road, Lebanon, PA 17046.
