LANDISBURG, PENNSYLVANIA
June F. Hench, age 90 of Landisburg died Thursday, May 3, 2018 at the UPMC Pinnacle Carlisle.
Born, July 19, 1927 in Couchtown, she was the third daughter of four daughters to Elsie (Couch) Mort and James K. Mort.
She was a graduate of Blain Union High School, class of 1944, where she was an outstanding basketball player.
After graduation June was employed at the Naval Depot in Mechanicsburg. After marriage she became a homemaker. She was a long time member of the Zion United Church Of Christ choir, as well as Sunday School Teacher. After living for a brief time in Camphill, June and her family returned to Blain where she and her husband, Harry, owned Hench's Grocery.
She is survived by her husband Harry of 71 years, Harry L. Hench. Also surviving are her children, Terrence Hench of Loysville and Deborah Docherty of Sebring, FL; 5 grandchildren, Jill Stoner of Middletown, Tara Berds of Carlisle, Zachary Hench of Port Murray, NJ, Susan Swidersky of Mechanicsburg, and Barbara Cronan of Reading; and 11 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Ruth Feather, Betty Mumper and Bonnie Killinger.
She was a lover of nature,animals and small children. She loved her family dearly, especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Friday, May 11, 2018 at 11:00 AM. at the Zion United Church Of Christ in Blain.
