Helen Louise (nee West) (Simmers) Black, age 99, of Waynesboro, PA was called home on Tuesday morning, April 4, 2017 , at 12:058 a. m,, , in Falling Springs Rehabilitation Center and Nursing Home, Chambersburg,
Helen was born on Thursday, February 7, 1918 in Waynesboro and was the daughter of the late Rev. Walter A. and Carry (Sites) West.
She attended schools in the Waynesboro area.
She was married to her first late husband George C. Simmers and her second late husband Robert Black.
Helen was a CNA and worked for many years giving private care and at Quincy. She also use to own the Simmers Market in Rouzerville and school bus line Simmers Bus Line.
She was a member of Blue Rock United Brethren in Christ Church.
Helen is survived by a son George E. Simmers and companion Mary Souders of Waynesboro, granddaughters Heidi Plante of Shippensburg and Joella (Simmers) Cole of Fayetteville; and Jessica Perez and her husband Daren of Doswell, Virginia; grandson John Simmers and his wife Penny; 6 Great Grandchildren Haley, Brandon Jr., Keith and Sabrina; Sincere and Trent. She is preceded in death by two brothers.
Celebration of Life Memoiral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 2 P.M. at the Lochstampfor Funeral Home, Inc. corners of S. Church and W. Second Streets, Waynesboro. Mr. Paul Lochstampfor Officiating over informal sharing service. Interment to follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Quincy, Pennsylvania.
