LOYSVILLE, PENNSYLVANIA
Ellis “Kuhny” C. Kuhn, age 91 of Loysville was called home on January 13, 2019 at the UPMC West Shore Hospital, Mechanicsburg.
Born January 4, 1928 in Carlisle, he was the son of the late Thomas and Lorraine (Powley) Kuhn.
He attended the Manassa School and graduated from Blain Union High School class of 1946. After graduation he attended Dickinson College, Carlisle, PA.
He was the husband of the late Anna Mae (Keller) whom he married in Perry County.
He worked in New Germantown for the State Forestry Department. He also worked for Carlisle Tire and Rubber, Carlisle Box Factor, C.H. Masland and Sons and was self employed in timbering and logging.
He was a self-taught musician playing music for over 70 years. He enjoyed entertaining with fellow musicians and friends over the years at various churches, parties, carnivals and jam sessions. He played in various groups such as “the Beacons”, “Shermans Valley Boys” and “Swinging Country".
In his early years he helped coach Loysville Midgets baseball and New Germantown Softball teams. He was a member of the Eagles Club of Carlisle.
In his spare time he liked to collect coins and baseball cards. He enjoyed giving guitar and fiddle lessons to all those who were eager to learn. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan.
He is survived by three sons, Elwood “Woody” Kuhn of Blain; Richard Kuhn of Loysville and Emory (Russ) Kuhn of Blain; 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. In addition to his wife Kuhny is preceded in death by a son Douglas Kuhn and a brother Thomas Kuhn, Jr. and great grandson Michael Troutman.
The family will be receive friends from 10 am to 11 am on Friday, February 1, 2019 in the Nickel-Lochstampfor Family Funeral Home, Inc., 3626 Sherman's Valley Road, Loysville, Pa followed by a Celebration Memorial Service at 11 am. with Rev. John Kipp Officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
