Doris Belle (Barnhart) Palmer

Doris Belle Palmer, 88, of Waynesboro, PA, formerly of 140 E. 5th Street, Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, was called home to be with her loving Lord and Savior at 1:52 PM, Monday, July 24th, at Quincy Home.

Doris was born in Ringgold, Maryland on August 6, 1928, a daughter of the late Lillian E. (Reechard) and Harvey E. Barnhart, Sr.

On September 6, 1949, she married at Stephen City, Virginia. her late husband Van D. Palmer, Jr.. who died November 26, 1966

Doris was a 1946 Graduate of Smithsburg High School and 1952 graduate of Washington Co. Hospital Nursing School

She was employed as an RN at Waynesboro Hospital. She also worked for Dr. James Teeter, Hintercoff, Carter, Stern and Winslo before retirement as one of their nurses.

She was a long life member of the Ringgold Church of Christ where in her later years she was known by many of the children as "Candy Lady".

Doris is survived by a daughter, Carol Maroukian, of Waynesboro, PA; a brother, Harvey Barnhart, Jr., of Gaithersburg, MD. and 1 Granddaughter April D. Stahl and her husband Matthew and 2 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and her parents she is preceded in death by a son Van D. Palmer, III. of 2016

The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 27, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m in the Ringgold Church of Christ, 14420 Barkdoll Rd, Hagerstown, MD 21742. A celebration of Life funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in Ringgold Church of Christ, with Pastor Don Conley officiating. Interment in Greenlawn Cemetery, Williamsport, MD.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers that memorial donations be made in Doris memory to the Ringgold Church of Christ, 14420 Barkdoll Rd, Hagerstown, MD 21742
