John Kenneth Reisinger of Elliottsburg, age 75, unexpectedly joined his Heavenly Father on March 27, 2024. Known to many as “Teddy”, he was born in Harrisburg on July 12, 1948 to the late John and Alberta (Nulton) Reisinger. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 15 years, June (Mullen) Reisinger. Teddy is survived by two sons: Samuel Reisinger (Karen) of Enola and Kevin Reisinger (Denise) of Elliottsburg; two step children: Mary McCarty of New Bloomfield and James Reed (Tanya) of Camp Hill; seven grandchildren: Cory Reisinger of Enola, Cai Reisinger, currently stationed at Walter Reed, MD, Colin Reisinger of Landisburg, Courtney Sparrow of Middletown; Andrew, Brant, and Cynthia Joy; eight step grandchildren: Nathan, Laelyn, Nolan, Declan, Matthew, Liam, Brendan, and Brenna; and his brother, David Steve Reisinger of Shermans Dale.
Teddy graduated with the Class of 1966 of West Perry High School. He then proudly served in the United States Army from 1967 to 1970. During his years of service, he earned the following decoration, medals, badges, commendations, citations, and campaign ribbons: Vietnam Service Medal with 1 Bronze Service Star; National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Sharpshooter (Rifle). Upon his return to civilian life, Teddy worked for Land O’Lakes/Purina Mills. He was an active volunteer and member of Mannsville Lutheran Church, where he also served on Church Council. He also hosted the frequent “solve the world’s problems” sessions in his front yard on the swing. These trusted friends will deeply miss him and their time together. Teddy’s passion was deer hunting. He frequently sat in his pavilion with his binoculars scanning the area for signs of deer in great anticipation of the upcoming hunting season. Naturally, he was a proud member of the National Rifle Association.
A Gathering of Friends and Family will be held on Saturday, April 6 from 10 to 11 AM at Mannsville Lutheran Church in Elliottsburg. Promptly following the Gathering at 11 AM, will be a Celebration of Life for Ted, with the Rev. Linda Hostetter officiating.
